Why TruRace
Don't just race the clock.
Race people.
Traditional races are exciting, but most runners are never truly in the hunt to win. TruRace makes race day feel more meaningful by matching athletes against others at a similar level, then giving every runner a leaderboard, rivals, and a race they can actually win.
Running for time still matters. The difference is that a personal best can now be more than a number on your watch: it can be the move that wins your heat.

The TruRace edge
You don’t need to be the fastest.
You just need to win your race.
Racing league for every level
Everyone gets a race they can win.
TruRace is not an elite running league and it is not a traditional running club. It is a racing league built around matched heats, so runners at every level get competitors near them, a fairer shot to win, and standings that make each race matter.
Everyone gets rivals. Everyone gets a shot to win. Everyone can climb their leaderboard.
Rivals at your level
This is not an elite-only league. Matched heats give beginners, mid-packers, and front-runners competitors close enough to make the race personal.
A real shot to win
You do not have to be the fastest runner in the whole event. You just need to beat the runners in your heat.
A leaderboard to climb
Results, points, heat wins, training consistency bonuses, and leaderboard movement turn separate race mornings into an ongoing competitive story.
Prize Builder
Train, then race for more.
Paid members can earn Prize Credits from qualifying training runs. When an eligible prize heat is available, those credits raise the prize you are racing to win.
Prize Credits affect prize value, not direct leaderboard rank. The race result still decides the heat.
Up to $40 boost per eligible prize heat.
Up to $60 boost per eligible prize heat.
Up to $100 boost per eligible prize heat.
How it works
A better competitive experience in four steps.

Get placed in a heat
We group athletes into small, evenly matched heats—usually 7 to 8 competitors—based on recent race performance and fairness.
Race the event you were already doing
You still run an existing organized race. TruRace adds the matched-heat layer, leaderboard logic, and prize competition.
Train, then race for more
Paid members can turn qualifying runs into Prize Credits, then use those credits to raise the prize in an eligible heat.
Equalizer heats
Same race. Fairer bragging rights.
Equalizer heats let runners of different ability levels compete together in the same event. TruRace locks each runner's expected time, uses the official race result for the actual finish, and ranks the group with an adjusted handicap score.
Self-created Equalizer heats are social only: no prize payouts and no TruRace leaderboard points. Admin-formed Equalizer heats may be prize eligible and award leaderboard points at TruRace's discretion.

Track bragging rights and run it back at the next race.

Built for real competition
Not everyone can be the fastest.
But everyone should have a chance to win.
TruRace is about meaningful competition, not genetic lottery leaderboards. It gives more runners a reason to show up, track progress, chase faster times, and compete with purpose.
PRs with stakes
Running a great time will always matter. With TruRace, that same PR effort can also beat rivals, win your heat, and move you up the standings.
Better training pull
When race day feels winnable, training has a sharper reason behind it. Prize Builder gives paid members a simple way to turn consistent running into a bigger eligible prize.
More mental engagement
Head-to-head racing gives runners something to manage in real time: nerves, confidence, patience, tactics, and the decision to keep competing when the race gets uncomfortable.
Founding members pilot
Help shape the first TruRace season.
We are launching through an early pilot centered on 4 races before finalizing around mid-December. Founding members help validate the format, race the first matched heats, start the first rivalries, climb the first leaderboard, and can race for a $100 heat-winner bonus plus prize swag in eligible finalized pilot heats.
Independent platform notice
TruRace is an independent running competition platform. TruRace is not a race organizer and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or approved by any listed race, event, organizer, timing company, or venue unless we state that relationship explicitly.

FAQ
Questions runners will ask right away
Is TruRace putting on its own races?
No. TruRace is a competition layer built on top of existing races. You register for the underlying race, and TruRace organizes the matched-heat competition around it.
Who is this for?
Runners at any level who want a more meaningful shot at competing to win, not just participating in a huge field where only the fastest few are ever in the hunt. TruRace is for people who want rivals, standings, rematches, recognition, and a leaderboard they can climb.
Is this just a participation trophy?
No. TruRace does not make everyone a winner. It creates smaller, better-matched heats so runners have to earn results against people closer to their level.
Why does head-to-head competition matter?
For many runners, a direct matchup creates a better reason to train, pace well, stay mentally engaged, and push through the uncomfortable parts of a race. The win is not guaranteed, but the chase becomes real.
How big are the heats?
Usually 7 to 8 runners. We want heats small enough to feel meaningful and fair.
Can different ability levels race together?
Yes. Equalizer heats let runners of different ability levels compete together in the same race. Official race results provide actual finish times, then TruRace ranks the group with an adjusted handicap score that weights improvement by expected performance level. Self-created Equalizer heats do not award payouts or leaderboard points; only admin-formed Equalizer heats can be marked prize eligible, and those heats award leaderboard points.
Where is TruRace available?
TruRace expands based on runner demand, organizer conversations, and the races where matched heats can operate responsibly. Early members help shape the first TruRace racing league for runners at every level.
Is this gambling?
No. TruRace is a skill-based race competition using actual running performance, verified results, and clear competition rules.
What is Prize Builder?
Prize Builder is simple: paid members earn Prize Credits from qualifying runs, then use them to raise what they can win in an eligible prize heat.
Can training buy leaderboard points?
No. Prize Credits increase prize value only. Training can add a small automatic consistency bonus to leaderboard scoring, but members cannot spend credits to buy points.
Are there cash prizes during the pilot?
Yes, during the pilot. The first 10 full finalized competitive heats per race include a $100 TruRace-funded bonus and prize swag for the heat winner, subject to eligibility, verification, and published rules. After the pilot, free accounts do not include standard cash prize access, though TruRace may occasionally select a small number of free runners for discretionary prize opportunities.
Do I need a membership?
You can join the pilot for free. Paid memberships are optional during the pilot and add paid-tier prize upside, Prize Builder, and extra TruRace apparel when your heat is prize-eligible. Elite has the highest heat-win ceiling: up to $600 with a full training boost before any pilot bonus, and up to $700 only when an eligible pilot heat win also includes the pilot bonus.
Ready to see if TruRace is for you?
Join free, get on the pilot list, and be ready to chase a faster time that can also become a matched-heat win with $100 pilot heat bonuses when eligible.
